Telecare

Telecare is a system of required assistive technologies that are connected to a 24/7 monitoring centre. Monitored assistive technologies can include a pendant alarm worn either on the wrist or around the neck and the user can press the button if in need of help, this will activate the base unit in your home which will contact the monitoring centre. The responders at the monitoring centre will contact your family or nominated persons.

The senior alert scheme is a fully funded scheme through Pobal and people over 65’s are entitled to apply for a pendant alarm and the base unit. You can find more information at the Pobal website here including a list of registered organisations to contact and set up.

There are many more assistive technology sensors that can be connected through telecare such as property exit sensors, smoke alarms, inactivity sensors and many more. You can see these at the Memory Technology Library or you can find more information at the below telecare companies.
